How do I use the Mighty Snail website?
The Mighty Snail website could not be easier to use. To get the most from it you will need to register - for free. To do this, just click the link that says "register" which you will see at the very top of this page. After you have done this you will have options to do the following things:
- list a property you have available
- list a personal profile
- edit either of the above
- view incoming messages from those enquiring about your accommodation or your profile
- remove your properties or your profile from the listings
How can I list my properties on the Mighty Snail site?
Once you have completed the registration requirements you will be taken to an online control panel. Near the bottom of this panel you shall find an item called "Your listings". If you click on the link underneath that says "Add a property" you can complete the form on the following page in order to list your property.
How do I edit properties on Mighty Snail?
From your control panel click the link that says "View Properties" which you will see within the "Your listings" section near the bottom of the page. From the following page you will be able to "view and edit" any of your currently listed properties.
What is my personal profile?
Your "personal profile" is a biography all about you. A user of the website is able to click to view this (if you make it public) and find out who you are etc. before they contact you. This also allows you to find and get in touch with people that you may like to move into your property with you. To do this, just browse through the currently advertised profiles which can be found on the home page.
How do I list my personal profile on this web site?
From the Mighty Snail control panel find the section called 'Your profile summary'. All you do is click on the link underneath that tells you to 'Update your profile' and then enter the information on the following page.
How long does my listing stay on the Mighty Snail site?
All listings on Mighty Snail stay on the website for 30 days from the date of listing. After that time you will be asked if you wish to renew the listing. If you do the listing will stay for another 30 day period and if you do not renew it, we will delete it.
You can delete the listing yourself before the end of the 30 day period by clicking on "View properties" from within the control panel and then selecting "delist" next to the property you wish to remove from public view.
How can I search for accommodation or flatmates?
From the home page all you need to do is click the links just under the top of the page in the big coloured boxes. You'll need to make sure you click the link under the correct category though, e.g. students or professionals.
How can I contact someone if I like their profile or property listing?
Once you find a listing you like all you do to send the user a message is click "Send a message to this user". You will find this link under the biography of the profile or the description and photographs of the property.
When you send a message it is not only sent to that persons control panel but also their email account. When they send you a message back it will go to your email account.
If you find a property of profile you like then save it to your clipboard so that the next time you come back to Mighty Snail you do not have to find it again. It will be right there in your control panel when you return.
What exactly is the clipboard?
The clipboard is a function integrated into your control panel. If you find something on the site you like then you can save it to your clipboard. Every time you come back to Mighty Snail then the property or profile you liked will be within your control panel already.
How will I know when someone gets in touch with me?
If someone on Mighty Snail wishes to contact you to enquire about your profile or property then they can send you a message. This message is sent to your email address and to your control panel. This means you won't miss any important messages. Don't worry though - we never disclose your email address or any details to the other person. They will only see your username. This is the same when you reply to them.
What premium services are available?
Whilst Mighty Snail is a free website, there are some extra premium features you can add to your listings. These are:
- extra photographs (up to four - including the free one)
- google style premium listing (your listing appears right at the top of the search results)
- highlighted listing in the search results (your listing will stand out from the rest of the results)
- automatic email matching (you will automatically be emailed a list of all existing and new profiles / properties that match your criteria).
